PURSUE YOUR PASSION
Piano Tutoring for Children and Adults
Take your skills to the next level with professional piano lessons. With my years of experience and training, you’ll learn everything you need to know in order to play the piano as you’ve always dreamed of.
Good training means everything!
Many people want to learn to play the piano, but hesitate because they think they’ll have to sit through many long, boring hours learning musical notes. I make my lessons fun, engaging, and my students thrive and learn quickly.
Piano Lessons
I love teaching students of all ages, and have more than 30 years of experience giving lessons to all levels of skill.
Music History
My students will learn how to read music and gain an appreciation for composers, learning more in-depth information regarding the music that they’re playing.
Recitals
I host twice-a-year virtual recitals for my students so they can demonstrate their skills.
Meet Luanne!
I have been teaching piano for many years (most of it in Madison and Verona, out of our home). I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Marion University in Fond du lac, Wisconsin in 1987. I teach all ages, from beginner to intermediate. I hold two recitals each year for my students.
I enjoy teaching all age groups. I especially enjoy teaching younger students and instilling in them a love for music and the piano. I do my best to make the lessons fun, as well as educational! When a student has done well on a piece they have practiced in lessons and at home, I give them a choice of a sticker to put on the page of music they have mastered.
I also enjoy teaching adults, as they are able to proceed at a faster pace and play more challenging music.

Please note I have a cat so if you are allergic, virtual lessons are perfect for you!

COMMON QUESTIONS
Do I need a piano to start?
No, a keyboard is fine.
When is the earliest age to start?
Generally 5-8, but parent(s) know their child best.
What are the benefits of lessons?
Learn to read music, which helps with learning other instruments or singing, in addition to playing the piano.
What is your typical process for starting a new student?
I get to know the student a little bit first; his/her likes and dislikes, background and such. I start the student with the lesson book and the performance, technique and theory books. I assign material for the student to work on for a week at a time. I keep the lesson fun and interesting.
What is your training and background?
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in music education that I obtained from Marion University, located in Fond du Lac, WI, in December of 1987. I have taught piano lessons for over 30 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons?
I charge $26.00 for a half-hour lesson, once a week, $39.00 for a 45-minute lesson, and $52 for a 60-minute lesson. I teach lessons in my home or VIRTUALLY via Zoom.
What kind of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a student with autism, and one with ADHD. I have worked with students as young as five years old and above. I have worked with adults for a long time as well. Most of my students are under 18.
How did you get started teaching piano?
I started teaching when I was married to my former husband in Brandon, WI. When I moved to Madison, WI, I started teaching after I was married to my husband of 27 years (and counting!). I started teaching piano lessons because of my love for music, and I enjoy teaching one-on-one.
What should I look for in a potential piano teacher?
Look for someone who has got a degree in music, and for someone who has been teaching piano for a while. Make sure that they have experience with the age of your children or adults.
What questions should I consider when thinking about piano lessons for my child?
For younger children, parents need to make sure that the child or children can sit through a half-hour lesson. Make sure that they are able to read. Look for someone who is interested in getting to know your child’s likes and dislikes. That also applies to students who are adults.
I love teaching my students to play the piano ❤ and you will love learning!
